Privacy Policy

A short, plain-language summary of our data handling and retention policy.

Last updated 3 November 2026

1Your resume content & data retention

When you save resumes to your account in LegalResume, your resume data is stored securely. Under our privacy-by-design policy: on the FREE plan, saved resume documents are kept for 45 days from creation. If you have a paid plan (or the public-link add-on), your saved resumes are kept for as long as it is active and for 45 more days after it ends; a resume created after your plan has ended follows the FREE rule. When that period is over, the resume and its contents may be permanently deleted from our servers at any time (we delete them in regular clean-ups). We strongly encourage you to download or export your resumes (.pdf, .docx, or project .json) before then. Expired records cannot be restored once permanently deleted.

2Account Preservation & Minimum Necessary Metadata

Purging expired resumes does not affect your user account, login credentials, or security settings. Only the minimum metadata required for security audit trails, platform reporting, and system reliability is preserved. Deleted resume content is never retained in administrative audit logs, caches, or analytical repositories.

3Local browser drafts

The resume you build in the editor is also autosaved locally in your own browser's local storage. Exports such as PDF, Word, and images are generated directly on your device. You can clear your local draft at any time from the editor settings or by clearing your browser site data.

4AI features (resume writing and AI review)

If you use the AI Resume Builder, the experience, education, skills, target role and notes you type (and a job description, if you paste one) are sent to OpenAI, our AI provider, to write your resume text. Your name, email address, phone number, location and profile links are not sent. If you run an AI review in the ATS checker, the text of the resume you upload or paste (and any job description) is sent to OpenAI. We remove email addresses, phone numbers and links first, but your name and the rest of the text are included. The basic ATS score is calculated on our own server and is never sent to OpenAI. OpenAI processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy. Do not enter anything you would not want processed by a third-party AI service.

5Payments

Payments for the AI Pass are processed by Razorpay. Your card, UPI or bank details go to Razorpay and are never seen or stored by us. The mobile number you enter at checkout is passed to Razorpay for the payment and is not saved by us. We keep a record of each payment (order reference, amount, status and date) and when your pass ends, for accounting and to resolve payment problems.

6Contact messages

If you use the contact form, your message opens in your email app and is sent to support@legalresume.in. We use it strictly to reply to your inquiry.

7Cookies and sessions

We use secure, HTTP-only authentication session cookies to keep you logged in, and a small setting in your browser to remember light/dark mode and your cookie choice. These are always on because the site needs them.

8Analytics

To understand which pages help people and where they get stuck, we may use Google Analytics (Google LLC), Google Tag Manager and Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation). They use cookies or similar technology to collect information such as the pages you visit, clicks and scrolling, your browser and device, and approximate location. Clarity may record how the page is used (mouse movement, clicks, scrolling) with text you type hidden. We never send them your resume content, and analytics never run inside your editor data. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

9Advertising (Google AdSense)

Some public pages (such as the home page, templates and resume tips) may show ads from Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can turn off personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info. Ads are never shown inside your dashboard, editors, account or checkout, and members with an active paid plan may see no ads at all.

11Changes to this policy

If we update how we handle information or data retention timeframes, we will update this page and notify active users accordingly.
